If you want a full size multi tool specific to an electrician there aren’t a ton of options out there. Each of the screwdrivers worked reasonably well, but again they can’t match the quality of larger manufacturers. The knife blades were made of cheaper steel to be sure but they were easy to put an edge on. We really like the range of common wire sizes the stripper allows you to strip. It lifts up to allow the wire to be put in place then applies pressure all on its own. It places the wire in contact with the closed blade and allows you to pull it through easily. The odd size wire stripper is interesting in that it actually uses the main knife blade. You can then twist and pull the wire for a clean cut. Simply thread a wire through the correct slot and press down on the bar. The numbered wire stripper uses a fold out system that holds the wire in place. The blade itself is made from AUS-8 stainless steel and takes an edge easily. SOG has been coming out with innovative designs since they were founded and they’ve done a great job here. It combines a razor sharp folder with several different wire strippers. This is a well made tool from a respected manufacturer. I really liked the responsiveness of the included scissors as well. The knife blade is small but it does allow you to cut through straps, packaging, and pretty much any other small task. They meet together well and do a great job cutting all the way through plastic sheathing. While they don’t work as well as a full size set of wire strippers the ones on the ES4 are surprisingly effective. You can also cut or strip a variety of common wire sizes. They’re all spring-action and give you the ability to grip small objects. The main tool on the ES4 is the combination pliers/strippers/cutters. It gives you nine useful tools in a 2.25 in long package. If you’re looking for a keychain multi tool for an electrician look no further than the Leatherman Squirt ES4.
